Faith and merit: keeping the canal-side Buddhist way of life alive at Pikka Floating Market

The tradition of offering alms to monks by boat is held every week, every Saturday from 07:30 to 08:30, at Pikka Floating Market, beside the great Luang Phor Pan image, Khlong Dan Subdistrict, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province.
Normally, monks paddle out in boats to receive alms from Buddhists and visitors waiting at the water's edge. The atmosphere is calm and beautiful, reflecting the traditional life of the canal communities.
Occasionally, if it keeps drizzling on a Saturday morning, the market invites the monks to receive alms on the bank instead, so that the public and visitors can still make merit comfortably.
This tradition not only carries Buddhism forward but also brings life to Pikka Floating Market, making it an important destination for visitors from Bangkok and other provinces alike.
