Wat Pan Prasit Aram

Also known as Wat Pikka, a meditation temple of peace and wisdom

History of the temple
Wat Pan Prasit Aram, also known as Wat Pikka, is located in Moo 1, Khlong Dan Subdistrict, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province.

The legend of Wat Pikka

The temple was originally called Wat Pikka because it stands on the bank of Khlong Pikka ("wing canal"). Legend tells that crows used to steal the salted meat that villagers set out to dry, until one was caught, had its wings cut off and was impaled on a stick. People then began to call the area "Ban Pikka" (Wing Village).

Founding

Construction of the temple began on 19 May 1932 (B.E. 2475) on land donated to Luang Pu Pan. The villagers later developed it, and in 1956 (B.E. 2499) it was renamed "Wat Pan Prasit Aram" in memory of Luang Pu Pan, whose inspiration led to the temple's founding.
